Expulsion (Ausweisung)
A person who is in Austria illegally or who has received no further extension of his/her residence permit can expect to be deported. A person must leave Austria immediately or following the conclusion of the deportation proceedings.
Ban on further residence (Aufenthaltsverbot)
If a ban on further residence is issued against a foreigner, he/she must leave Austria and is not allowed to re-enter the country for a set period of time. This can be anything from 5 to 10 years, but it can also be for an indefinite period.
detention pending deportation (Schubhaft)
If either a ban on further residence or deportation is issued against a person, he/she must leave Austria. If he/she does not leave Austria, he/she may be held on detention pending deportation. A person can also be held on remand to safeguard legal proceedings, in the case of a ban of further residence or of deportation.
Deportation (Abschiebung)
Deportation is forced expulsion from the country, carried out by the aliens’ police.
